Family Heirloom Restorations

Getting your family member’s harmonica restored can be a very special gift! Restorations can be labor intensive, but often it is the only way if their harmonica model has been discontinued. The one in the photo was a discontinued Hohner Super 64, where the harmonica suffered heavy corrosion and the screws completely rusted and fused the reed plates together. Check out that before an after photo! Please contact me to inquire further about how I can help you out!

Repair/customization of harmonicas

Repairs: Like you can see in this photo, I can repair your harmonica with new reeds, combs, screw conversions, getting rid of excessive rust, and comb replacements. Reeds will be accessed, replaced as needed, and tuned at an expert level.

Customization: This involves high level reed work that enables your harmonica to become more responsive, louder, and easier to play and a factory set up harmonica. Easier and more solid sounding bends, easier access to all overblows and overdraws which will be bendable giving you access to new licks. I find that harmonicas that are well set up tend to last a lot longer due to less physical effort being needed to sound the reeds.

Repair/custom tunings of other instruments.

I also repair and tune other instruments like Shruti Boxes and pianos. I am affiliated with www.shrutibox.com and do all of their repairs and custom tunings. I get calls to tune shruti boxes down to A432 and to other keys like F pretty frequently where it is not possible to get the factory to make one like that. I can help you out, too!

The instrument in this photo is a Shruti Box from India roughly from the 1940’s. I repaired this treasured family heirloom after it suffered a fall and notes no longer sounded. It was very interesting to work on! I fixed every single note and improved the overall response, and tuned them to perfection to give beatless octaves, 4ths, and 5ths.
